IDMABIO’s Scientific Users’ Council was held on April 9, 2025, hosted by our teams. The main aim of the annual Scientific Users’ Council (SUC) is to encourage exchanges between users, scientific experts and technical teams, to improve the services offered and guide future actions. It is a key moment for consultation and co-construction.

IDMABIO SUC missions (consultative body)

  • Present and review the technical and scientific activities carried out over the past year.
  • Provide a critical assessment of these activities to evaluate their relevance and effectiveness.
  • Advise IDMABIO on identified technical and scientific challenges.
  • Suggest directions for medium- and long-term technical and scientific developments.
  • Make recommendations regarding the evolution and adaptation of the services offered.

Report

During the meeting, IDMABIO presented its recent activities and organizational structure, followed by a roundtable discussion. Key topics included improving the workflow, particularly sample shipping guidelines and the connection with the ARTEMIS database, whose limited accessibility was noted. The need to associate analysis results with a confidence level was discussed, but no clear consensus emerged on decision rules. The inclusion of IDMABIO in an ISO9001 or ISO17025 certification process was raised, requiring further strategic clarification. Finally, potential actions were identified regarding quarantine pest declarations, partnerships with PatriNat, and regulatory obligations.

Conclusion

The SUC highlighted both the progress made by IDMABIO and the key areas requiring further development and clarification. Priority actions were identified to strengthen technical processes, data reliability, and regulatory alignment.
